Upper and Lower lakes: Raja Bhoj created the Upper Lake in Bhopal in the 11th century while the construction of an earthen dam across the Kolans River. Moti Masjid: The city of Bhopal is often called the city of mosques due to the presence of a number of historical mosques and monuments within its walls. One such mosque, relatively smaller in size but not less important is the Moti Masjid. Built by Sikander Begum in the year 1860, the beautiful Moti Masjid is an important historical landmark of the Muslims in Bhopal. The architectural design of the Moti Masjid has a striking resemblance to the famous Jama Masjid in Delhi. The Moti Masjid, Bhopal is a relatively smaller sized monument hat was built in the year 1860 by Sikander Jehan. The mosque has two dark red towers with golden spikes. The architecture of the Moti masjid resembles the Jama Masjid in Delhi. Because of the sparkling white façade, The Moti Masjid is also called the Pearl Mosque. |

Shaukat Mahal: The Shaukat Mahal and Sadar Manzil displays a combination of Asian and Western styles of architecture which makes this building stand out in the crowd of the traditional Islamic architecture of Bhopal. Gothic and post renaissance styles have been effectively used in the construction of the Shaukat Mahal, which eventually gives it an enchanting effect. A number of intricately carved arches on the roof of the Shaukat Mahal along with the alabaster white structure of the building give it a unique look. The outside of the palace is designed with beautiful and exotic floral patterns giving the Shaukat Mahal a eco friendly appearance. The Sadar Manzil that was the Hall of Public Audience during the rule of the princes, borders the Shaukat mahal. This building is a brick red construction of flamboyant appearance. The Shaukat Mahal and Sadar Manzil are surrounded by beautiful lawns that give it a picture postcard effect. |

Lakshmi Narayan: Temple Built on top of the Arera Hills in Bhopal, the Laxmi Narayan Temple generated a breathtaking sight of the old historic city of Bhopal.Also called the Birla Mandir, after the name of the leading industrialists who built it, the Laxmi Narayan temple is dedicated to the Goddes of wealth, Laxmi. The Laxmi Narayan Temple has the idols of Goddess Laxmi and Narayana along with a magnificent idol of Shiva with his wife Parvati. There is a Birla Museum attached to the Laxmi Narayan temple which displays a splendid collection of sculptures from the 12th century era of Madhya Pradesh. The temple is of a sandy yellowish color that reflects the old feel inside. On one side of the Laxmi Narayan temple is a huge steeple. The entrance to the Laxmi Narayan Temple or the Birla Temple is through a beautiful archway and is surrounded by lush verdant lawns. |

Van Vihar Zoo The Van Vihar National Park is situated in the heart of Bhopal City. 445.21 hectare degraded hillock along with private Village land was initiated in 1980 and finally notified as a National Park in 1983. Funding from Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has started in 1993-94 and also granted Van Vihar as a medium sized zoo on the same year. With the dedicated efforts of the Park management this area has now been transformed into an oasis of greenery. The area today serves as the green lung for Bhopal City. Van Vihar remains open throughout the year, About 2.50 lakh visitors come to Van Vihar every year, and Free entry for school, college students and Senior citizens. |

Rastriya Manav Sangrahalaya The Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya on the Shamla Hills in Bhopal is the National Museum of Mankind. It has been renamed as the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya and is a significant tourist place in Bhopal. This museum is engage din recollecting the past rather than collection.
